Mr dear Mr. Yeates                                                                       Belmont   October 15 th , 1801

I have received both your affectionate letters for which I thank you.   I have need so to do when I consider after such a number of years acquaintance as we have had you still continue your kind attentions to me in writing frequently.   I do not know any thing more grateful than to hear from those we love in their absence.

Your Sister has had a touch of the gout but is getting better.   I heard from Kitty this morning   they are very well at Lancaster.   Mr. Smith and Betsey got up safe to Sunbury.

I am this far on my journey   the weather is very fine at present   we intend setting off for Plumbley on Sunday.   Jasper Hand came down this morning   He is afraid he will miss seeing you this time   the Vacation lasts six weeks and they will expire before you return

a few of the neighbors are to have a little Hop at Mr. Amos Slaymakers     to morrow evening   they have invited Peggy and myself to it   I believe we shall go   John Yeates & Jasper Hand will escort us there.   I am afraid the stage will pass therefore conclude with assuring you I ever shall be your very affectionate wife

                                                                                                                Sarah Yeates

Peggy and John desire their

  kind love to you
