Case Study: Forgotten Seasons

Dale & Suzanne GroffTen years ago, Dale and Suzanne Groff stayed at their first bed and breakfast and fell in love with the concept of being able to spend a night in someone’s home in an area they were visiting. The idea of meeting local folks, talking to them about what to see and do in their area, and meeting other guests from all parts of the world added special meaning to an otherwise ordinary trip. Over the next ten years they visited many bed and breakfasts and dreamed of owning their own.

In March 2001 the Groffs became “empty nesters” and realized their dream by opening Forgotten Seasons Bed and Breakfast in the historic (circa 1735) Jacob Huber tavern in Lititz, Pa. This historic dwelling, with four guest rooms, is currently being “refreshed” and restored. In documenting the history of their house the Groffs have found several genealogical ties to the former owners.

Both Dale and Suzanne grew up in Parkesburg, Pa. where they raised three daughters. Suzanne has worked as a nurse for various practices in Lancaster County and owned “Over the Rainbow Daycare” from 1990 to 2000. Dale has been employed by Terre Hill Concrete Products since 1978, holding various positions in the organization from estimator to field construction coordinator. Currently he is the Network Administrator at Terre Hill.
