African-American Heritage Walking Tours

Celebrate Archives Month with behind-the-scenes tours, a new exhibit, and a free class on preserving your own family history!

Take a tour of our exhibits with an experienced LancasterHistory.org curator!

Sponsored by the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH), LancasterHistory.org awards fellowships twice a year to scholars, educators, and community leaders to enhance their research or scholarship. These Lunchtime Lectures provide an informal setting for fellows to present their research to an interested community.

The Lancaster County Historical Society sponsors the Regional History Colloquium one Friday a month from September through May.

Presenters are historians and scholars who are in the midst of a work-in-progress or who have recently completed a publication. Topics focus on historical issues relating to southeastern Pennsylvania as well as its wider borders. The presenter introduces and discusses his subject and then engages the audience in stimulating dialogue. Topics are diverse in nature and have included Lancaster Central Market, the Mason-Dixon line, the Underground Railroad in Southeastern Pennsylvania, the Susquehanna River, and the art of Hattie Brunner.

Refreshments are served at 4:00 and the presentation and dialogue are from 4:30 to 5:30.
