EXPLORER POST #1863

The Civil War Explorer Post #1863 was founded in 1997 and is chartered by the Boy Scouts of America and sponsored by the Lancaster County Historical Society. Membership is open to anyone (male or female) between the ages of 14 and 20 interested in the Civil War and American history. Regular meetings are held at the Lancaster County Historical Society on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month (September through May) at 7:00 p.m.

During regular meetings members plan upcoming events. Most meetings feature a speaker or reenactor presenting a program on the Civil War or American society during the nineteenth century. Activities of the group include participation in area Civil War reenactments, visits to Civil War sites, a Victorian Christmas Ball and camping trips.
