The Civil War Explorer Post #1863 was founded in 1997 and is chartered
by the Boy Scouts of America and sponsored by the Lancaster County
Historical Society. Membership is open to anyone (male or female)
between the ages of 14 and 20 interested in the Civil War and American
history. Regular meetings are held at the Lancaster County Historical
Society on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month (September through
May) at 7:00 p.m.
During regular meetings members plan upcoming
events. Most meetings feature a speaker or reenactor presenting
a program on the Civil
War or American society during the nineteenth century. Activities
of the group include participation in area Civil War reenactments,
visits to Civil War sites, a Victorian Christmas Ball and camping
trips.
