|
Free cake, free punch, free student-led tours! President James Buchanan's Wheatland, on the campus of LancasterHistory.org, celebrates our nation's 15th President's 219th Birthday on Saturday, April 24, 2010. Between the hours of 12 noon and 2pm Saturday, one day after his actual birthday, 5th grade students from Buchanan Elementary School in Lancaster will dress in the fashions of the 1850's and serve as your tour guides giving us all a unique child's perspective on life lived at Wheatland on this gentleman's farm. Two students, Izaiah Albino and Madeline Brown, have received the honor of portraying President Buchanan and his First Lady, niece Harriet Lane, at the celebration. Members of the Buchanan Elementary School's PTO will serve complimentary birthday cake and punch to all guests touring between 12 and 2 pm. Join the students, teachers, and parents who make this possible as we celebrate our only Pennsylvania President's Birthday. Admission to the Buchanan Birthday Celebration is free. There is no charge for student-led tours given during 12 to 2 pm. |
