Lancaster Spring ArtWalk
Lancaster Spring ArtWalk
LancasterHistory is a new stop on this year’s Spring Lancaster ArtWalk. The Lancaster ArtWalk is a self-guided tour of the downtown and surrounding area galleries in Lancaster City, Pennsylvania. Special exhibitions, meet-the-artist events, children’s activities and live demonstrations are all available for discovery within the bustling art galleries and museums of Lancaster City.
LancasterHistory is Official Spring ArtWalk Stop #6. ArtWalk attendees may enjoy the following galleries on display at LancasterHistory:
- FREEDOM: ”to secure the Blessings of Liberty” explores the stories of Lancastrians who sought freedom, fought for freedom, lived in freedom, and were denied freedom over the course of 300 years.
- Printed, Painted, & Stitched focuses on adornment and its application across a variety of surfaces, including paper, ceramic, and textiles found in the historic LancasterHistory Collections. From samplers to mochaware mugs to “Gaudy Dutch” teapots, learn more about the art of decoration and the various techniques used by Lancaster County artists to embellish their decorative arts.
- Plus exhibitions on World War I and River Power, a historic photograph exhibit on Safe Harbor Dam.
Admission to view LancasterHistory’s galleries is free on Saturday, May 4, 2019 from 9:30am – 5pm for ArtWalk attendees. Attendees should check in at the front desk to receive a clip-on ticket for admission into the galleries. LancasterHistory is not open for the ArtWalk on Sunday, May 5.
