Edward Bolger. Mary Smithgall. The Freelands. Rosanna Gordon. These are the few names of the many people employed at Wheatland during Buchanan’s lifetime. On April 2, take a special guided tour of Wheatland that places the spotlight on the people who worked to create the comfortable lifestyle that Buchanan and his family enjoyed: the domestic workers. Learn from the history and stories about the domestic workers’ lives, their daily jobs on the Wheatland property, and the social division between the workers and Buchanan’s family.
