The LancasterHistory Name & Brand
When discussing LancasterHistory the organization, the appropriate and accurate way to write the name is “LancasterHistory,” with a capital L and H and no space between “Lancaster” and “History.” “Center” or “Museum” should also not be appended to the name. (When used in a sentence, possessives are acceptable, such as “LancasterHistory’s museum.”)
LancasterHistory used to be known as the Lancaster County Historical Society or Lancaster County’s Historical Society. The Historical Society name should not be used in a contemporary context to refer to the organization. It may be used in a historic context with the recommended addition of a clarifying statement such as: “Lancaster County Historical Society, now LancasterHistory” or “LancasterHistory, formerly the Lancaster County Historical Society.”
