LancasterHistory, located at 230 North President Avenue, is home to President James Buchanan’s Wheatland, the Research Center, museum exhibitions, Museum Store, and the Louise Arnold Tanger Arboretum. Continue reading to learn the hours and admission prices of the various experiences we offer.

Hours of Operation
LancasterHistory Museum & President James Buchanan’s Wheatland
In the LancasterHistory Museum, visitors will find museum exhibitions, the Research Center, and the Museum Store. This is also where visitors who wish to tour President James Buchanan’s Wheatland should check in or purchase tickets. Tours depart from the museum down to Wheatland.
- General Hours: Mondays – Saturdays, 9:30am – 5pm
- Wheatland Tours: Mondays – Saturdays, on the hour, 10am – 3pm
- Research Center Hours: Wednesdays – Fridays and the First Saturday of Each Month, 9:30am – 2pm

The Tanger Arboretum
The 11-acre grounds of LancasterHistory and President James Buchanan’s Wheatland is home to the Louise Arnold Tanger Arboretum (Tanger Arboretum for short). The Arboretum is open seven days a week from dawn to dusk. This is no admission charge. Visitors may walk the property to view the trees. Maps of the Arboretum are accessible in the museum, map boxes on the property, or via the Arboretum’s webpage.

Admission Prices
The following prices are valid for our 2025 Season for visitation occurring between January 21 – November 8, 2025, unless visiting as part of a scheduled Group Tour.

* Children are free with the purchase of an accompanying adult and/or senior ticket.
** A Family Pass includes the purchase of two (2) adult or senior tickets and two (2) student (youth) tickets. To purchase the Family Pass, please call (717) 392-4633 to purchase over the phone. Family Passes may also be purchased at the door.
