James Buchanan was our last American president to be born during George Washington’s lifetime. Buchanan was raised with a reverence towards Washington, and was a lifelong admirer of the man. He visited George Washington’s Mount Vernon many times during his life, including during his presidency. On Saturday, July 7, visitors will have the opportunity to meet President James Buchanan, portrayed by Tim Mackey, and hear him discuss his patriotism, particularly his fondness for the legacy of President Washington, in James Buchanan: American Patriot. Buchanan will be available for questions, and visitors will receive a full house tour after the living history program.

The Living History Program James Buchanan: American Patriot takes place on Saturday, July 7, 2018 with tours/programs at 12, 1, 2, and 3pm. Advance reservations strongly recommended.
