Advance reservations are encouraged.
General Admission includes:
- A ~24 minute, professionally-produced orientation film, Buchanan’s America: A Nation Divided. This film precedes each tour.
- A ~50 minute guided tour of President James Buchanan’s Wheatland; and
- Self-guided access to museum exhibitions about Lancaster County’s history in the Museum & Research Center.
We recommend visitors allot a minimum of 1.5 – 2.5 hours for their visit.

Research Center Admission

The Research Center is here to support your research and enhance your understanding of the past. We can help you access books, newspapers, maps, archival documents, photographs, and objects across the historic collections of LancasterHistory.
Visitors are strongly encouraged to reserve a timeslot in advance by registering online or by calling LancasterHistory at 717.392.4633. Timeslots are limited, so walk-in admission is not guaranteed.

Wednesdays – Fridays and the First Saturday of the Month
9:30am – 2pm
Note for Visitors: The Research Center will have adjusted hours on Friday, May 1. The Research Center will be open from 11:30am-4pm.
Museum Exhibitions-Only Admission

Please Note: This admission type does not include a guided tour of Wheatland. If you wish to take a guided tour of Wheatland, we recommend purchasing General Admission tickets.
