Join LancasterHistory.org for a cocktail reception and presentation at President James Buchanan’s Wheatland on Thursday, September 27, 2018! The special guest speaker for the evening is Randall M. Miller, Ph.D. who will offer a more in-depth discussion on 1858: The Fateful (Fatal) Year for Buchanan’s Presidency. Included with your ticket is Dr. Miller’s presentation and the opportunity to discuss the topic and have cocktails and hors d’oeuvres with Dr. Miller in James Buchanan’s parlor in Wheatland. Please note: This is a separate event from the Presidential Lecture Series.
The event takes place at President James Buchanan’s Wheatland on Thursday, September 27, 2018. Cocktails and hors d’oeuvres will be served at 6pm, followed by the presentation and discussion at 7pm.
Tickets are $50/person. RSVP by September 25, 2018 to Cindy Madara at (717) 392-4633, ext. 122. Reservations will be held upon receipt of payment via credit card or check. This event has limited seating; early reservations are recommended.
Randall M. Miller, Ph.D. is the William Dirk Warren `50 Sesquicentennial Chair and Professor of History at Saint Joseph’s University. Dr. Miller is the author or editor of numerous books including those on African-American culture and life, politics, Civil War and Reconstruction, and ethnic and immigrant history. Dr. Miller is best known for his award-winning book, “Dear Master”: Letters of a Slave Family.
