Gather ’round with LancasterHistory on Thursday, May 5, 2022 at 10am for Storytime! Storytime at LancasterHistory takes place among historic buildings, giving children an immersive history experience. A passionate museum educator will read aloud from a book centered on a historical theme, and then lead a craft or activity inspired by the theme. On May, we’ll read I Don’t Want To Be A Frog by Dev Petty. We’ll then complete a craft or activity based on the day’s theme (craft/activity to be determined).
Book Excerpt: “Frog wants to be anything but a slimy, wet frog. A cat, perhaps. Or a rabbit. An owl? But when a hungry wolf arrives—a wolf who HATES eating frogs—our hero decides that being himself isn’t so bad after all. In this very silly story with a sly message, told in hilarious dialogue between a feisty young frog and his heard-it-all-before father, young readers will identify with little Frog’s desire to be something different, while laughing along at his stubborn yet endearing schemes to prove himself right.” [Penguin Random House]
This program broadens kids’ historical knowledge, and establishes museum literacy and critical thinking skills. The program is free, and registration is required to ensure we have craft supplies for everyone. Suggested for ages 6 and under. Register for all four Storytime programs or individual programs online or over the phone by calling (717) 392-4633.
Storytime will take place outdoors unless it rains, in which case it will be moved indoors. All attendees should abide by LancasterHistory’s Heath & Safety Protocols for Visitors. We kindly ask that at least one (1) adult, parent, or guardian attend per child.
