EVENT UPDATE: This event has been postponed and moved from March 18 at 10am to April 1 at 10am. We will be contacting all ticketholders shortly to inform them of this change in date. Thank you!

Join us for Saturday Storytime! We’ll be reading a history-themed story and then have time for a creative craft. April’s Storytime will feature Pocket Full of Colors, a children’s book by Amy Guglielmo and Jacqueline Tourville (illustrated by Brigette Barrager), that tells the story of Mary Blair, a pioneering designer, illustrator, and animator at Walt Disney Studios. Afterwards, children will be able to put their own artistic flair on coloring pages designed by Lancaster’s Florence Starr Taylor.

Book Excerpt: “Mary Blair lived her life in color: vivid, wild color. From her imaginative childhood to her career as an illustrator, designer, and animator for Walt Disney Studios, Mary wouldn’t play by the rules. At a time when studios wanted to hire men and think in black and white, Mary painted twinkling emerald skies, peach giraffes with tangerine spots, and magenta horses that could fly. She painted her world.” [Simon & Schuster]

This program broadens kids’ historical knowledge, and establishes museum literacy and critical thinking skills. The program is free, and registration is required to ensure we have craft supplies for everyone. Suggested for ages 12 and under. Register for Storytime online or over the phone by calling (717) 392-4633.

Storytime will take place indoors due to cold weather. We kindly ask that at least one (1) adult 18 years or older attend for every two children.
