Teaching American History: Causes of the Civil War
On Saturday, June 15, TeachingAmericanHistory.org and LancasterHistory will host a teacher seminar which will consist of three sessions that discuss the causes of the Civil War: “Advent of the Slave Power,” “Abolition and Southern Resistance,” and “The Conflict Defined.” Teachers will also enjoy a behind-the-scenes tour of related content in LancasterHistory’s collections. This seminar is designed in conjunction with LancasterHistory’s upcoming exhibition, Lancaster in the 60s.
Registration for the seminar begins at 8:30am on Saturday, June 15, 2019. The seminar will take place from 9am – 3pm. The seminar will include pedagogy and historical content sessions, a behind-the-scenes tour of related content at LancasterHistory, and lunch. The seminar is free and open to all educators but requires advance registration. Participants will be assisted with acquiring ACT 48 credits and other credentials for this professional development experience by the Lancaster-Lebanon IU-13.
