EVENT CANCELLED
Due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, LancasterHistory is closed to the public until further notice. Therefore, the following event has been cancelled. We will be contacting ticketholders as soon as possible to notify them of this cancellation, and are working to provide a digital alternative. LancasterHistory will continue to evaluate the Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation and respond accordingly. Any updates to our operations or programs during this time can be accessed on our website at lancasterhistory.org/updates.
Join LancasterHistory on Wednesday, June 24 at 5:30pm for an in-depth object study of Lancaster County women’s fashion from the early-19th century. Museum Associate Stephanie Celiberti, in conversation with Director of Education Stephanie Townrow, will present an up-close look at the many layers of clothing that helped women to achieve the popular silhouette of the time. Participants will view textiles from LancasterHistory’s collections, and clothing items hand-stitched by LancasterHistory staff using historic methods. The two Stephanies will explore the stories left behind that relate to the social and personal significance of clothing.
Stephanie Celiberti, Museum Associate, manages the daily operations and historic interpretation at President James Buchanan’s Wheatland. Through interpretation, Stephanie explores the world that James Buchanan inhabited and the intricacies of daily life in the 19th century. By walking in the shoes – sometimes literally – of the Victorians, she shares a new understanding of history that merges the past with the present.

Members of LancasterHistory’s staff, in dialogue with each other, will provide information and insight into the theme and its related collections materials, and will invite the group to engage in conversation about the theme and its material culture. This program is limited to 20 participants.
