Experience history on April 6, 2019 at President James Buchanan’s Wheatland! In this first-person presentation, visitors will be transported back to April 1859 as President Buchanan and First Lady Harriet Lane welcome Attorney General Jeremiah Black. With tensions mounting in the States and a failed treaty between the U.S. and Mexico, President Buchanan faces mounting domestic and international issues. During your visit to Wheatland, President Buchanan will seek your counsel—what do you think about the Nation’s financial troubles and France’s disturbing activities in Central America?

The Living History program We Must Avoid Catastrophe takes place on Saturday, April 6, 2019 with tours starting on the hour at 1, 2, and 3pm. Advance reservations are strongly recommended, and guests are advised to arrive 15 minutes prior before their tour entry time for check-in.
