World War II Encampment [Sunday]
On Saturday, October 6 and Sunday, October 7, the World War II Encampment returns to LancasterHistory.org! The weekend will feature opportunities for visitors to talk with knowledgeable re-enactors, “Thank A Vet,” attend a period appropriate church service (Sunday only), go swing dancing at a big USO dance (Saturday only), among many other activities throughout the weekend.
SCHEDULE
Sunday, October 7, 9am – 4pm
- 9am & 11am: A public church service will be offered by a historic interpreter portraying a WWII-era chaplain. Services are free and open to the public.
- 9am – 4pm: Walk the grounds to view various educational World War II displays, talk with knowledgeable re-enactors, see what life was like at home during the 1940s in the “Homefront” trailer, and gaze at many vintage vehicles.
- 9am – 4pm: A “Thank A Vet” letter writing station will be available. Children are invited to write a letter to a veteran thanking them for their service. Free.
The World War II Encampment is free and open to all ages. Free parking is available on-site.
