Description: Mrs. E. Frank Creager’s Scrapbook of Local Lane spotlights women’s activities throughout Lancaster County. The volume is composed of newspaper clippings and photographs. Some of the photographs are labeled with names, but many of them have no identification. She included photographs and advertisements that are concentrated around women’s fashion. She also highlighted women graduating from educational institutions such as Shippen School for Girls, Lancaster General Hospital Nursing School, and Franklin and Marshall College. Mrs. Creager shows women being honored and awarded for service in both the military and the workplace. Concentrating on the achievements of women, Mrs. Creager contributed her own thoughts about certain articles.
The scrapbook features prominent Lancastrians including the Hagers, Steinmans, Seners, Thaddeus Stevens, and James Buchanan. Mrs. Creager also saved newspapers articles about the military assignments of local soldiers, both men and women. Mrs. Creager’s scrapbook is indexed by subject.
