Administrative/Biographical History: Evangelical Association of District No. Nine, Lancaster County, PA
The Evangelical Association of District No. Nine, Lancaster County, PA grew out of the United Churches of Lancaster County and the Lancaster County Sunday School Association. Pastors, parents, and laymen united to support Christian education for the youth of the county. The county was divided into districts and each district held an annual Sunday School Convention to provide leadership training for Christian education.
In 1945, Rev. John L. Weaver from the Smithville Church of God suggested district-wide evangelical services and received approval in 1946. Later, when the Lancaster County Sunday School Association became defunct, District No. Nine continued their mission of Christian education. The name of the organization was changed to the Evangelical Association of District No. Nine, Lancaster County, PA on 23 May 1960. There were twenty-five participating churches in 1974 when the association dissolved.
