Description: The scrapbook features a series of correspondence, meetings and notes about how to improve the community in Lancaster. Some of the discussions mentioned were cleaning up crime and litter in the streets of Lancaster. The committee hoped to raise the standard of living in Lancaster by making the city safer and establishing laws to keep it that way. Concerned citizens justified their changes by forecasting the city’s future without improvements, and then recruited help by using a positive forecast for Lancaster’s future based on their proposals and efforts. H. W. Prentis, Jr. was part of the committee to make Lancaster a better place to live.
