Description: Mary K. Kreider compiled these scrapbooks with newspaper clippings and magazine articles about Lancaster County and Pennsylvania. Both of these scrapbooks contain information on local colleges including Franklin and Marshall College and Elizabethtown College, as well as historic locations around the eastern part of Pennsylvania.

Book 1 contributes historical and event information about Winterthur in Delaware, Wheatland, Robert Fulton’s Birthplace, and the Hans Herr House. An item of interest is a map of ghost towns (abandoned towns) around Lancaster County as of 1976. Some articles discuss the Pennsylvania German culture. The first scrapbook’s articles have information about Pennsylvania history, culture and events. A few articles consist of information about local events to commemorate the bicentennial of the American Revolution.

Book 2 contains more information about Lancaster County than the first scrapbook. The local historic places mentioned throughout this book are as follows: Historic Strasburg Railroad, Fulton Opera House, the Hotel Brunswick, Rock Ford Plantation, Ephrata Cloister, Hans Herr House, and the Landis Valley Museum. A newspaper insert about the 250th Celebration of Lancaster contains dates and locations of special events and a short history about the area. Other than Lancaster, the scrapbook mentions the cities and towns of Pittsburgh, Holtwood, Upper Leacock, Columbia, and Elizabethtown.
