Administrative/Biographical History: The Masonic Village at Elizabethtown
The Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania was petitioned by freemason, George B. Willson, to create a retirement community for elderly freemasons. With Willson’s help, The Masonic Homes of the Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania was established in 1910 in Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania. Since the creation of the community in Elizabethtown, four other retirement communities were created in Pennsylvania in the following locations: Sewickley, Warminster, Dallas and Lafayette Hill. On 1 January 2004, all five communities became one entity known as the Masonic Villages of the Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania. The Masonic Villages are still non-profit retirement communities strictly for Freemasons and their relatives.
