This book tells the story of the Rocky Springs Dentzel Carousel that was operated from 1899 to 1982 in Rocky Springs Amusement Park near Lancaster City and subsequently in Michigan and at Dollywood. Included is a history of Dentzel family carousel making by William H. Dentzel III, along with 13 of his original drawings. Also included are before-and-after restoration photos of 12 Rocky Springs Carousel animals by Lisa Parr, a world-renowned restorer of carousel animals. This 234-page book by Eileen Gregg was published in late 2021. It details the carousel’s rich history, the unique architecture of the building that house the carousel at Rocky Springs Park. In addition, the book looks back at the Golden Age of Carousels and the Dentzel Company. The book includes 6 guest contributors and more than 100 color photos.
