Social Media Comment & Posting Policy

LancasterHistory encourages comments, ideas, concerns, questions, and suggestions on its Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube pages (hereafter referred to as “social media”). By posting or submitting comments on LancasterHistory’s social media, you are agreeing to and abiding by the following terms and conditions:

1. By submitting a comment or post on LancasterHistory social media, you agree that the comment content is your own, and to hold LancasterHistory harmless from any and all repercussions, damages, and liability.

 

2. LancasterHistory reserves the right to delete or mark as spam any and all inappropriate and/or libelous comments and/or posts, including the following:
   1. Vulgar, abusive, offensive, threatening, or harassing images and/or language; which includes creative spellings of swear words using asterisks or spaces between words;
   2. Comments and/or posts that promote, foster, or perpetuate discrimination on the basis of race, creed, color, age, religion, gender, marital status, status with regard to public assistance, national origin, physical or mental disability, or sexual orientation;
   3. Comments and/or posts that contain sexual content or links to sexual content;
   4. Comments and/or posts that promote or advertise a person or a business or commercial transaction that is not related to or operated by LancasterHistory;
   5. Comments and/or posts that promote or oppose any person campaigning for election to a political office or any ballot proposition;
   6. Comments and/or posts that contain identical content that are posted multiple times;
   7. Comments and/or posts that are completely off-topic or unrelated to LancasterHistory or the post topic in question;
   8. Criticisms that identify LancasterHistory employees or Board of Trustees by name;
   9. Comments and/or posts that disclose information which LancasterHistory and its employees are required to keep confidential by law or administrative rule; and
   10. Any other comments and/or posts that LancasterHistory deems inappropriate.

 

3. LancasterHistory has the right to block the access of anyone from posting to or commenting on LancasterHistory social media found to be in violation of #2 above in any way.

 

4. Comments and posts made to LancasterHistory social media in any form or capacity are public and available to anyone visiting LancasterHistory social media.

 

5. LancasterHistory does its best to provide and share information on its social media that is useful or interesting and is provided for informational purposes only. LancasterHistory cannot attest to the accuracy of all the information provided by the LancasterHistory social media or any other non-LancasterHistory website or social media.

 

6. At times, LancasterHistory may share, comment, or post external, non-LancasterHistory links on this site. These links do not constitute official endorsement on behalf of LancasterHistory and are for informational purposes only.

 

7. Opinions expressed in public comments do not necessarily reflect the opinions of LancasterHistory, its employees, or its Board of Trustees.

 

8. Any information posted on LancasterHistory social media is considered public information and may be subject to monitoring, moderation, or disclosure to third parties.

 

9. LancasterHistory monitors and moderates its social media, but may not see, review, or be able to respond to every comment or post–appropriate or inappropriate–right away. LancasterHistory encourages our social media audiences to engage in civil discourse, be patient, and/or ignore inappropriate comments and/or posts until the appropriate action can be taken to address, respond to, and/or remove comments and/or posts.

 

Social Media Privacy Policy

By posting or submitting comments on LancasterHistory’s social media, you are agreeing to the following terms and conditions:

1. LancasterHistory social media is not hosted by LancasterHistory and thus the privacy policies of LancasterHistory do not apply. The privacy policy for various social media outlets may be found on their respective websites.
2. Because social media is a public resource, LancasterHistory may collect user comments, posts, ratings, reviews, or testimonials and any personally identifiable information a user voluntarily shares with LancasterHistory by commenting or submitting posts to its social media. These items may be disclosed to others and used by LancasterHistory to conduct business and/or improve its services, facilities, or marketing.
3. To protect your privacy and the privacy of others, never post or comment with your full name, phone numbers, email addresses, social security numbers, or any other personally identifiable information.
4. LancasterHistory is not liable for any loss or damage resulting from comments or posts submitted on its social media.
