NEH Summer Internship Program
LancasterHistory offers an enriching and robust Summer Internship Program for students interested in careers in museums, archives, and related fields. Enthusiasm for local history is a must!
During this eight-week program, funded in part by the National Endowment for the Humanities, interns will complete an individual project with a senior member of the LancasterHistory staff. In the summer of 2025, there will be opportunities in the following areas: Curatorial, Archives, and Historic Site Management (President James Buchanan’s Wheatland).
Interns will attend their internship four days per week, Monday through Thursday from 10am to 4pm. The internship will run for eight (8) weeks from June 2 through July 24. Interns can work with their supervisors to find an alternative schedule if needed. LancasterHistory charges no tuition or program fees, and we offer each student a $2,500 stipend distributed at intervals during the internship.
Application
Applications for the 2025 program closed on March 15. We will conduct interviews on a rolling basis so we can make decisions as quickly as possible. We will announce final decisions on or before April 15.
