Storytime: Celebrating Presidents’ Day!
Storytime: Celebrating Presidents’ Day!
Join us for Saturday Storytime! We’ll be reading a history-themed story and then have time for a creative craft. February’s Storytime will feature Grace for President, a children’s book by Kelly DiPucchio (illustrated by LeUygen Pham), that explains how Americans elect their presidents and reminds us that anyone can run for office. We’ll then complete a craft or activity based on the day’s theme (craft/activity to be determined).
Book Excerpt: “When Grace Campbell’s teacher reveals that the United States has never had a female president, Grace decides to be the first. And she immediately starts off her political career as a candidate in the school’s mock election. But soon, she realizes that she has entered a tough race. Her popular opponent claims to be the “best man for the job” – and seems to have captured all the male votes – while Grace concentrates on being the best person.” [Scholastic]
This program broadens kids’ historical knowledge, and establishes museum literacy and critical thinking skills. The program is free, and registration is required to ensure we have craft supplies for everyone. Suggested for ages 12 and under. Register for Storytime online or over the phone by calling (717) 392-4633.
Storytime will take place indoors due to cold weather. We kindly ask that at least one (1) adult 18 years or older attend for every two children.
