Description: This collection contains legal contracts between apprentice, or the parent or guardians, and master; as well as one contract between an indentured servant and master. The contracts identify the parties involved, municipalities, trade to be learned, and terms of contract.

Henry Humphreville with the advice and consent of his mother Susanna Humphreville indentures himself to John Ihling in the borough of Lancaster as a tinplate worker on the 27 February 1816. Gift of Frank Humphreville, 11 July 1897. Transferred from Document Collection, June 2014.

John Porter son of William Porter deceased by his own free will and the consent of Zacharias Moore and Jacob Eversole overseers of the poor of Donegal Twp. An agreement by Seneca Carver of Little Britain Twp. to apprentice himself to Alexander and Irwin of Colerain Twp. as a blacksmith and establish him in a blacksmith shop, 29 December 1834. Transferred from Document Collection, June 2014.

Peter Stewart (a mulatto) of the age sixteen months is indentured until he is 21 years of age as a servant to Abraham Johnston by Peter Stewart’s mother Mary Parsons, 13 November 1784. Transferred from Document Collection, June 2014.
