Folder 1 Annie L. Herr book
Pages were removed from an earlier book with handscribed mathematics problems to accommodate pasted-on and loosely inserted recipes. (The latter have been removed and placed in inserts in Folder 2.)
The flyleaf reads “Annie L. Herr, 1881, Lancaster, Pa.” A two page index, unfortunately missing part of the first page, follows and then the recipes for food, plants, dyeing, laundry, and miscellaneous.

Insert 1 From Page 18, seven recipes ranging from wheaten loaf, jellies, fine flour, washing made easy, meats, desserts, sweeping and dusting, and an instruction booklet for using the Etruscan coffee pot.

Folder 3 Recipes submitted by local women to a [city directory]. Pot roast chicken, fricadelles, drop dumplings with meat, boiled ham, blind birds, corn pudding, Boston baked beans, corn omlet, corn fritters, baked onions. No date.

Folder 4 Recipes for medications for horse, cattle, and hog ailments. No date. Removed from Introduction to Monteith’s Manual of Geography, by Mr. Henry R. Lutz (1976.019.27) in January 2003.
Book 5 Rosana Hubley’s Cookery Book. 1815. Kept by Rosina Weaver Hubley, proprietess of the White Swan Hotel which was on the southeast corner of Centre Square in Lancaster. (Do not use the original—a transcription is available in the library. Original is in poor condition.) Transferred from the library, March 2010.
