Description: This collection of billheads shows purchases made by Mr. H. S. Root of items to be sold in his grocery store and for his personal use. His grocery was located in Clay Twp. The items include food, beverages, confections, shoes, boots, clothing, paper, tobacco, hardware, paint, utilities and pharmaceuticals, as well as retail and restaurant licenses. The businesses represented are local and national, such as Steinman Hardware, Reilly Bros. & Raub Hardware, National Biscuit Company and Christian Kunzler Company.
