Looking for more Capital Day fun? Join us on Saturday, September 27, at 10am, for a delightful pet parade!🐶 Pet owners and their furry friends can don colonial, revolutionary, or patriotic costumes and strut their stuff! Gather outside the museum before we set off, and enjoy bite-sized historical tidbits about Capital Day as we travel through time. This event is free and open to everyone, though a $10 donation is suggested for those taking part in the parade. Join LancasterHistory on Thursday, September 18, for an in-depth look into the life of William Chester Ruth, an African American metalsmith and inventor. Ruth evolved his forge in Gap, Pennsylvania from farm machinery repair into a workshop of mechanical creation and genius. Gwendolyn Dickenson, Ruth’s granddaughter, and Bruce Bomberger of the William Chester Ruth Legacy Project join LancasterHistory to tell Ruth’s story. 

Doors open and a reception begins at 5pm. The lecture will begin at 5:30pm. The lecture will also be livestreamed to Zoom at 5:30pm for those who wish to join us virtually. This lecture is free and open to the public. In-person attendance requires advance registration to guarantee a seat. Virtual attendance requires advance registration to receive the Zoom link.
